This week we did a mini project about online tracking. It was interesting to hear both sides on the role of government in online privacy. Being in the undecided group taught me how to ask more pointed questions rather than lead with a series of questions. In the undecided group we had a little bit of difficult coming up with questions that applied to both groups. However, in the end we ended up with some very good questions. When we had to take a stance I found it rather difficult to build my argument against government intervention because both sources seemed to support more government intervention. I definitely felt I needed more sources that supported my position because it was rather difficult for me to extend. The peer review aspect was really helpful because it helped me extend more, and gave me good advice.
With the This I Believe introduction I have learned how powerful our personal stories can be. I found I was able to come up with a topic that is very important and personal to me. I will enjoy this project because it provides me with a opportunity to share something that is personal which is something can be hard for me. I feel like the most difficult aspect of this project will be the video part, and just choosing how to word the essay. I look forward to working on this project, and am interested to see what other people choose as their belief.
